Giles sat back on his heels and ran a hand through his hair. "Bloody Hell," he said slowly and quietly.
Willow and Faith watched him nervously. He had turned pale so suddenly, they hadn’t known what to think. "What happened?" Willow asked cautiously.
"I saw what I did. I saw it through her eyes. I raped her." He pitched forward and threw up again.
"How?" Faith asked.
"Not sure," Giles said as he removed his shirt and used it to wipe his face and mouth.
"We need to let Buffy know you weren’t in control," Willow said.
"She’ll never believe it," Faith said.
Everyone had forgotten about Rachel until she spoke up suddenly. "Are you okay, Mr. Giles?"
"He’ll be fine," Willow said. "We should just leave him alone for a while." She took Rachel’s hand and led her towards the door.
"Rachel," Giles spoke before Willow opened the door. "Please tell us if you hear anything else."
Rachel nodded and let Willow and Faith walk her out.
Once they had gone, Giles did his best to clean himself up. He didn’t care about the floor; it could wait. Pulling a spare shirt out of a desk drawer, he thought about what to do next. His first thought was to find Buffy and explain, but what could he say? He doubted she would believe anything he’d say. He needed to get Merissa to confess. That was his only option.
When he grabbed his phone, a thought came to him. He knew just what to do to get her to talk.

Wesley entered the Watchers’ Headquarters along with Gunn and Fred. Buffy wanted him to bring his best lawyer, but there had been something in Buffy’s voice that had compelled him to bring Fred too.
When they stopped and asked how to find Buffy, they were directed to the infirmary.
"The infirmary?" Gunn asked. "I thought she needed legal advice."
"One of the Slayers was attacked," Fred explained. "She’s probably there with her."
"But don’t Slayers heal real quick? She’d be better by now. Right?" Gunn asked.
"Not always," Wesley said, remembering Faith’s brush with death. "Things can happen."
They walked in silence to the infirmary, each lost in their own thoughts.
When they finally entered the room, Fred gasped. Gunn clenched his fists. Neither had ever met Buffy in person, but they knew she shouldn’t look like this.
"Buffy?" Wesley asked quietly, not sure if she was asleep or awake.
Buffy opened her eyes and looked at him. "Wes?" When she struggled to sit up, Wesley and Fred helped her.
Wesley had suspected it was Buffy who had been hurt. She hadn’t come out and said it on the phone, but he’d had a feeling. "What happened? Who did this?"
Buffy looked up at him with such pain in her eyes that he could almost feel it. "Giles." She grabbed the front of his shirt. "He’s evil. You have to stop him. Send him away. Send him to a hell dimension or something. He can’t be here with these girls. He’ll hurt them."
"Buffy, calm down. Tell me what he did," Wesley said, calmly.
"He drugged me. Raped me." she whispered. "He took away my strength and forced himself on me." Tears rolled down her cheeks. "I tried to kill him, but I couldn’t do it. Please help."
"Oh god," Fred whispered.
"Where is he?" Gunn asked. "I’ll do it."

Giles almost laughed when he found Merissa just down the hall from his office. It appeared she was spying on him.
"Merissa," he called out. "I need to talk to you." She looked ready to run. "I wouldn’t if I were you."
She stopped dead in her tracks. "What do you want?" she asked, sounding braver than she looked. "Buffy wasn’t enough for you? You need me too?"
"Funny you should ask," he said, backing her against the wall. "You’d like that. Wouldn’t you? Would you want the real me?" He pulled the cell phone out of his pocket. "Or the one you created?" He smiled at the panicked look on her face. He knew she could smell the scotch on him.
"Neither," she said weakly. "Let me go or I’ll scream."
Giles did laugh then. "Who would help you?" he asked. "Not your friends. They wouldn’t want to get caught defending you." He flipped open his phone. "Not Buffy’s friends. They’d rather see you dead than help you." He pressed a few buttons on the phone. "Do you even know what your little spell does to me?"
"I know what it does," she said.
Giles slammed his fist against the wall near her head. "How do I reverse the spell? How do I deactivate the trigger?"
A look of terror passed over Merissa’s face. "I can reverse it while you’re under the spell. That’s the only way."
"So, you left a way to save yourself," he said with a sneer. "Let’s see if it works." He pressed a button on the phone, causing the sound of an old telephone to fill the air.

Wesley assured Buffy that he would help and left to find Giles. Gunn guarded Buffy’s room. Fred stayed by Buffy’s side as she drifted in and out of a restless sleep.
Making his way through the halls, Wesley searched for Giles. Buffy had thought he was still in the building, but he was beginning to think she might have been wrong. He couldn’t imagine Giles attacking Buffy, and he certainly didn’t think he would rape her. ‘Perhaps she was attacked by something else and hallucinated. Buffy had mentioned being drugged. It’s possible she imagined being raped, but why would she accuse Giles?’ Wesley thought.
Just when he’d decided to go back and talk to Buffy again, he heard something. It sounded like an old telephone. Soon after, he heard a girl scream. He ran towards the sound, skidding to a halt as he rounded a corner.
At the other end of the hall, it seemed someone was attacking a girl. He thought it was Giles, but he couldn’t quite tell from behind. Once the attacker spoke, though, there was no doubt in Wesley’s mind. It was Giles, and something was terribly wrong.
As he crept closer, he heard bits of and pieces of the two talking.
"Have you ever been fucked by a real man?"
"Many times. I don’t need you to show me how it’s done."
Hearing the voice confirmed that it was Giles. ‘But who is the girl?’ Wesley wondered.
Giles laughed, shoving the girl against the wall as she tried to get away.
"Turn around," Giles demanded. "You’ve never been fucked the way I’m going to fuck you."
When the girl didn’t obey him, Giles roughly spun her around and shoved her against the wall again.
"Please don’t," she pleaded before she began speaking in Latin. Her voice was so soft that Wesley only heard half her words.
Wesley began to rethink his strategy. He’d been planning on talking to Buffy and her doctors, but now he was beginning to think she may have been right. ‘What is going on here?’ Wesley asked himself. He stopped that train of thought as he set his mind on saving this girl. Explanations could wait. "Stop right there!" Wesley commanded. "Release her!"
When Giles whirled around, Wesley staggered back a step. The look in his eyes was something he hadn’t seen since he’d faced Angelus.
